Today Samsung held their ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ live event to unveil the new S10 and S10+ smartphones. As part of the event, it was revealed that S10+ buyers would receive an exclusive Fortnite ‘IKONIC’ skin.
The skin features a familiar K-Pop style in red and black colors, it is unkown whether the skin will have variants like many of the current Fortnite skins do. The ‘Galaxy’ skin released with the Note 9 and Tab S4 did not have variants but did have an exclusive harvesting tool.
The Galaxy S10 and S10+ phones have a wide variety of cutting edge technology, including 5G, four rear cameras, 1TB of storage, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Some reviewers complained that the S10 lacks 3D face recognition technology, something that the iPhone XR has.
In August of last year Samsung partnered with Epic to launch the Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4. Purchasers had access to V-Bucks and an exclusive ‘Galaxy’ skin. The Galaxy skin went on to become one of Fortnite’s most desired and rare outfits.
Earlier this year, Huawei announced that they would partner with Fortnite to launch an exclusive ‘Honor Guard’ skin for buyers of their Honor V20 smartphone. The skin even made it’s way into the game files. That deal, however, was nixed by Epic shortly after the announcement.
World-wide pre-orders for the Galaxy S10 and S10+ start today. Customers in the U.S. will have to wait until the 21st. The phone’s official release date is March 8th. Only buyers of the S10+ will get the exclusive skin, regular S10 buyers will not qualify.
It is unknown whether buyers of the S10+ phones would get V-Bucks like Note 9 customers did.
